Ches took a deep breath, running a hair through his shaggy black hair. He needed to wash it. He should have taken one before he came. He smelled like smoke too, no doubt thanks to the cigarette hanging loosely between his lips. God, he shouldn’t have come here. This couldn’t have been a good idea. No, it wasn’t. He didn’t belong here at her doorstep, hand raised to knock. He didn’t belong in this house, with his baby girl in his arms. He didn’t belong with her. Not any more. He’d fucked up, and now there was no going back.
He shook his head. He was such a hypocrite. Wasn’t he always telling Faye to let go of the past? This was now? This was what mattered? The present? And that’s why he was here, at her door, hand raised to knock. And so he did, lightly at first; barely audible. He took a shaky breath and knocked again, louder this time. His heat was pounding in his chest, anticipating the sight of her in the doorway, her bangs hanging in her face, her tired eyes, lined in liner. Her gorgeous brown eyes…
He swallowed hard, eyes glued to the welcome mat. “Wipe You’re Feet, Please” it read in loopy letters. He only realized then that the house was a bit strange, unfitting for Faye. It was like picket fence America almost. Dad coming home from work, greeted by the old family retriever and his beautiful little girl who cheered when he’d come through the door. His wife in the kitchen bust cooking dinner and baking apple pie for desert. A house for a picture perfect family. Ches didn’t exactly fit the bill. But neither did Faye… at least the Faye he knew didn’t. He checked the house number to make sure he was in the right place. He was.
His heart began pounding once more when he heard footprints headed in his direction. He panicked when he realized the cigarette still between his lips. His eyes darted round the porch, looking for a place to stub it out. He heard the door knob jiggle slightly and tossed his cigarette into the yard without thinking. He stuffed his hands in his pockets just as the door began to open…
Like I said. Temporary. Don’t get used to this nice stuff comin’ from me. It’s rare you know…
Please..? -kisses cheek-
If the tables were turned and it was you in there Ches…
I would do anything and everything to get you out.
Not even give it a second guess…
stupid i know, but that’s how much I love ya.
And I know it’s the same exact way with Wy and Delly…
That’s why I need to help him anyway I can cus if not he’d get into a world of trouble…
-head droops and rests on Grant’s chest- You’re right… I’m just being selfish. I don’t want anything to happen to you…
I love you, Grant. Be careful, yeah?
-sighs, backing up some and looking down-
…
This is only temporary okay? Only until this whole mess is over with and you come back to work. If he even rehires me that is…
Tonight..?
No, grant I can’t let you do this. Not now… Please?
I’m sure Delly’s fine for now she can’t wait another day at least try and think of something else grant please -clings-
I…
Please..? -kisses cheek-
That date was seriously the best first date ever though
